HU Xinyu

Hu Xinyu is the founder of Beijing Siheyuan Academy, a board member of the Beijing Cultural Heritage Protection Center, and a collaborating expert of the UNESCO Chair on Cultural Heritage Law.

From 2006 to 2008, Hu was the first Executive Director of the Beijing Center for Cultural Heritage Protection (CHP). During this period, he initiated and completed original volunteer projects on cultural heritage conservation, such as the "Friends of Old Beijing" volunteer research, "Training on Restoration of Courtyards" and "Cultural Trails".

From 2009 to 2013, Hu served as the China representative of the Crown Prince's Charitable Foundation (China) and completed the CCTV documentary "The Emperor's Secret Garden" in 2012, which reflected the restoration of the Qianlong Garden in the Forbidden City, and the Shijia Hutong Museum in 2013, in collaboration with the Dongcheng District of Beijing.

From 2014 to 2021, during his tenure as the Chinese representative of The Prince's Foundation Institute of Traditional Arts, Hu Xinyu facilitated collaborative projects between the Institute and a number of academic and higher education institutions, including the Central Academy of Fine Arts and Design, the Dunhuang Research Institute, and the Beijing Institute of Fashion, as well as the Dunhuang Research Institute's exhibition at The Prince's Foundation Institute of Traditional Arts Art Gallery in London in 2017.

During his several years as a director of the Beijing Cultural Heritage Conservation Center from 2016 to the present, Hu Xinyu has represented China's cultural heritage conservation charity at the first South East Asia Cultural Heritage Alliance Conference 2019, in addition to his day-to-day project management duties at the Beijing Cultural Heritage Conservation Center. At the end of the same year, Hu Xinyu participated in the launch of the global Climate Heritage Network, and is committed to promoting the active participation of Chinese cultural heritage institutions in international dialogue and exchange.

Currently, Hu's main focus at Sihe Academy is on traditional culture education and international cultural exchange.

Hu received his B.A. in English Language and Literature from Beijing Second Foreign Language Institute in 1997 and his M.A. in Sociology from Peking University in 2006.
