HU Shanchen

Born in 1990, lecuturer in Law School, Minzu University of China, postdoctoral fellow at Institute of Architectural History and Heritage Conservation, School of Architecture, Tsinghua University; Ph.D. in cultural heritage law, Renmin University of China (RUC); Member of the Law Committee of the China Cultural Relics Academy and the Law Committee of the Chinese Museum Association; Master and Chief Editor of the "Cultural Heritage Law Research" website.

Dr. HU attended the course of "International Cultural Heritage Law" at Geneva Summer School (GSS) in June 2015 with the GSS Scholarship 2015. She went to Toulouse 1 Capitole University as visiting student with the Scholarship of Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) from September 2015 to September 2016. During her doctoral study, she undertook the research project sponsored by the RUC Fund of Scientific Research, entitled "From Property Right to Human Rights: the Reconstruction of the Concept of the Rights to Cultural Heritage Under the Evolution of Concepts" (201412-2015.12). She also participated in a variety of other research programs, such as  “Study on legal issues concerning the Return of cultural property looted during the Second World War” sponsored by the National Social Science Fund, “Comprehensive study on the laws and regulations of cultural heritage in foreign countries” and “Research on the theories and methods of the exercise of police power in non-state-owned immovable cultural heritage” entrusted by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage. She published several papers and articles in Journal of Political Science and Law, Wuhan University Journal (Philosophy & Social Science), Southeast Culture and Guangming Daily. Her doctoral thesis entitled "Evolution of the concept of the Rights to Cultural Heritage in Europe won "Award of Excellent Doctoral Thesis " in the Third Mr. Zeng Xianyi Scholarship for Legal History Research ; During the post-doctoral period, she mainly participates in the research project of "An Intellectual History of the Cultural Heritage Sites Conservation in China” sponsored by  the National Natural Science Fund.

Dr. HU is also a member of the compilation committee of the "The Series of Symposiums on Cultural Heritage Law" published by Cultural Relics Press. In addition, she used to work for the China Foundation for Cultural Heritage Conservation, during which she conducted in-depth research on the current situation of cultural heritage protection in China and developed good relationship with the influential cultural heritage NGOs all over China.
